LIVE REPORT ~ Thee Out Mods: November 10, 2007
PMX Los Angeles, CA
Get! Get! Get the Glory!
That’s what bassist Yoshiki ordered the eager audience to chant, but for the three piece punk rock band it would have happened regardless if he told them or not. The catchy phrase is irresistible to the tongue, like Thee Out Mods, irresistible to the punk rock monster edging to be released inside everyone.
Already familiar among LA venue-hopping music scene followers and Judo Chop regulars, the punkish trio consists of Kenny on drums, Yoshiki on bass, and Sana at the forefront, eclipsing every song with her fiery, passionate vocals.

An energetic mood-lifter with fun guitar riffs, Treasure Island, the self-proclaimed theme song of Thee Out Mods, opened the show with a fresh spray of exhilaration. Easily unwinding even the stiffest of concert-goers, Treasure Island had mouths moving in sync to the catchy lyrics by the end of the song.
The bouncy vibe continued into the rest of the set with songs like Punk a Go Go and Fuck This Shit (were there awards to hand out this one would get most awesome title). While some might think it’s hard to “get into” a song and physically express their desires to jump around and lose control, Thee Out Mods, with their rowdy nature and battle cry songs, make it easy to zone out of thought and get lost in the surrounding chaos.
Sana is a badass--what we all wish cookie-cutter type female vocalists would be like. She had no hesitation intensifying the eager audience with her fist pumping and scowly-toned vocals, which she easily blazed through with every song. Even during the breaks between songs, Thee Out Mods still entertain. Yoshiki, God bless him, is a hoot to watch. A kick-ass bass player with a completely unapologetic attitude, he did most of the speaking between songs, and as such could always be counted upon to shout out some of the craziest, funniest shit heard all weekend. Drummers are always the hardest to be seen, but Kenny, with his madman drumming skills and wild facial expressions, made it incredibly difficult to not notice him! The combination of these three talents escalated into a knock-out performance that was interesting and fun from start to finish.

The rallying cry of “Get! Get! Get the Glory!” bonded the audience and Thee Out Mods together. Everyone shouted as one during the last song, Glory, an addicting heart-pumping tune that got everyone to their feet and throwing their vocal chords to the wind.
With their zest for life and I-don’t-give-a flip attitude, Thee Out Mods are one to keep an eye on this year, for they are one hell of a neck-breaker group. A neck-breaker I say, because heads were tossing around so much it’s a wonder that anyone’s head managed to stay on throughout the performance! Neck bolts might be needed in the future!
